"My husband and I have two healthy girls, both born in the hospital, but through very different experiences. Our first born is a year and a half and we were unable to have doula support for her birth. I had very intense rectal pain with that delivery and could barely make it to 4cm without begging for pain relief. The epidural was not part of our “plan” but it did allow me to rest and regain energy for her delivery after 31 hours of labor.
In preparing for our second, we knew that if I hoped to have an unmedicated delivery, that we’d need to be better prepared with tools and support to help me get through it. I had always said I’d wanted to be able to feel so that I can participate in the labor and not be a bystander just following external directions. We interviewed a lot of really wonderful women to find a doula, but when I met Maegan, I knew there was a reason she was brought into my life. I don’t think that meeting her was just solely for her to be a part of this birth, I’m sure I’ll continue to feel the impact of Maegan being brought into our life for years to come.
I do know that without Maegan there, my experience with this labor would have looked a lot different. Maegan gave me tools and confidence to go on the path of a natural birth in a hospital, this allowed for me to feel every signal from the baby even for weeks ahead of her delivery.
When I finally got to the delivery room and was 8-9 cm dilated, baby gave me the signal that she was ready. Against the nurses’ directions, I focused on my baby’s voice being the loudest one I heard and she was telling me that it was time. Maegan guided me through the delivery and helped me silence the noise so I could hear what my baby and my body were saying. The baby was born without me needing to push her out, my body did it all involuntarily and it was the most extraordinary thing.
Maegan breathed peace into the labor experience. I can still hear her calm, controlled voice over the frantic hospital staff telling me to “listen to your body”. There aren’t words to describe the gratitude I have for Maegan and for the wisdom and peace that she’s brought into our world." -Elizabeth

Maegan was an exceptional Doula who provided my partner and I with unwavering support throughout my pregnancy and the birth of our child. Hospital Birth
Maegan was my doula for the birth of my daughter in January 2023. I was so grateful to find her and have her calming presence at my birth! Her use of the TENS machine and breathing advice during unexpected purple pushing are what saved me during my 20+ hour labor. I've never met anyone with a more chill attitude, and her affirmation of "you're doing everything right" helped me through birth and postpartum. As a generally type-A, high-strung, perhaps over-informed person, her calm demeanor is what I needed to give space to my fears and feelings.
Pre-birth she was always very punctual in answering any of my questions and was very attentive in checking up on me. Her passion for what she does is so real and raw. I definitely recommend her to anyone going through pregnancy and birth. -Kat B.

Where do I even begin?! I was introduced to Maegan after being risked out of midwifery care at 35 weeks. My hopes of having a natural home birth were completely shifted... and because of this I was heartbroken and terrified to have a natural hospital birth, considering my first birth at a hospital was near traumatic. However, the first conversation I had with Maegan on the phone put me into tears bc of how empathetic and genuinely confident she was that my goals were still very possible. From there, she answered all my questions, sent me a bunch of resourceful videos on how to prep my body for labor, and checked in on me regularly near my due date.
On D-Day, per our arrangements, she checked in on me regularly throughout the day while laboring at home. When we got to the hospital, Maegan was there shortly after us and immediately supported me and my husband. I even noticed she was building rapport with the nurses on the floor!
Ultimately, her intentionality behind her work is what amazed me- just when you think you can't do it, she encourages different positions, provides counter-pressures, coping tools, and words of affirmation to help make each contraction efficient. Her trust and faith in me was so empowering and she was essential in helping me with my dream birth. Considering I had a doula at my first birth as well, I can easily say that not all doulas are the same/ as effective in getting you through a natural birth. Maegan truly feels like more than a doula to me and I would and will recommend her to anyone and everyone I know bc she is 1,000% worth it. -Esther R.
